Fun gift for awesome person number 2

My Friends Rachel and Dave recently had a beautiful little boy, he is very handsome and for a new born pretty suave.

So I decided that he needed a tie, unfortunately small children and neck ties don't go hand in hand. To get around this problem I decided to sew one on to a onesie.

first I bought a plain white onsie and some blue checked fabric (actually it was an old shirt)

next I cut a tie shape out from the checked fabric and some iron on interfacing.

I ironed it in to place to hold the tie whilst I sewed and to stop it fraying in the wash. Then using a small zigzag stitch I sewed around the edge. I think it turned out pretty well and he is going to look champion in it.

Time on my hands.

I have had more time than usual on my hands in the last few weeks. I was tempted to just watch Gilmore Girls from start to end, but i decided on a slightly more productive option.

I have been making fun things for fun people. my first project was for my best pal Al. I made her a set of broaches. I just used an old book page, brown paper, non water based glue, card, pin back and some pens.

And here are the results, I am pretty chuffed with them!

Hum Blogging?

So I spend a fair chunk of my day reading other peoples blogs, and then Google asked me if I wanted to start a blog so I am giving it a whirl. I thought I would blog about things that I like and things that I make.

I live in a small village just out side Christchurch in New Zealand which was recently shaken to the ground by an earthquake which sucks! Most of the things that I like to do have been canceled for now so I have had a bit of extra time on my hands. I thought I would use the extra time to make things for people I think are swell. So I will tell you about that.

but for today I am going to show you the lovely new addition to my lounge.

I brought a second hand brass deer and spray painted it blue to match my photo frames, and I love him!
